Lansing Area Homeschool Fine Arts

Our Mission Statement

To partner with homeschool students and parents to provide opportunities for students to showcase fine art for the glory of God.

We especially want to help encourage and facilitate small ensembles. Small ensemble groups in LAHFA are defined as two to eight performers.  Performers can be students and / or adult participants.

We seek to glorify God by showcasing art in a variety of contexts: LAHFA public concerts and showcase events, invited concerts, other concerts, events, and recitals. Students and ensembles are encouraged to play in public as we believe good art is meant to be shared.  We believe artists are called and gifted by God and the glory of God is art’s highest goal. We believe that art that aligns with these principles teaches us about God’s own divine being and attributes.

LAHFA is a donations based, tuition-free organization led by students, adult participants and parents.  Performances will be scheduled around the existing student fine arts calendar, so as not to interfere, but to better prepare students for solo and ensemble, proficiencies, theater and larger group concerts.

Donations will also be used to reward students for their efforts. Only homeschooled middle school or high school students are eligible to receive honors awards and prizes at our showcase events but alumni and adult participants can perform in order to help students.  Prizes include cash scholarships, tickets to another organization’s event, or other incentives based in the fine arts.

LAHFA will decide what events will be performed and what pieces will be displayed at LAHFA concerts and showcase events.

Criteria used:

* Art must be true, good, and beautiful

* Excellence and quality of the art

* Priority will be given for students' art and small ensembles whenever possible
